A Soldier’s Christmas

A Soldier’s Christmas

written by: Brad Osborne

With nary a pine in sight
In this dry and barren land
And no blanket made of white
Upon these burning sands

It does not seem the season
The one I love so dear
If even the right reasons
Keep me from being near

No gifts to place beneath the tree
Just a heart-felt letter home
I serve to keep our country free
And for that, the world I roam

I am half a world away
It hardly feels like Christmas
Yet, I remember frozen days
And all the family I miss

Though I am not with you
As you gaze on winter’s moon
Remember that I love you
And I will be home soon
