A Tree-Hugger

a tree-hugger

written by: Magdalena Podobińska

When I look at her years ago
she seems so lonely
and so barefoot
I wonder how she survived
those cold nights
those bitter tears
What gave her strength?
I figure it’s because
she was a tree hugger
yes, a tree hugger

Weeping willow
swallowed her sorrow
Birch-tree enriched her
gave her love, eternity
and vitality
Gradually
unexpectedly
against the odds
She became strong as an oak
