A Winter Walk

A Winter Walk

written by: Linda Marie Hilton

The silence of the winter’s chill
Yields birdsong blooms, oh what a thrill!
Chickadees chatter, gaily seek
Birdseed thrown on snow covered hills
Shoveled from paths, to mountains deep
Far beyond turned gold raked leaves heaps.
Featherweight wrens flit soft above
While snowy blankets creatures keep
Warm underneath like earthen gloves
Huddled together though not doves.
Crispy snow crunches below boots
Breath lingers as a fog, hovers,
Mini cloud in a bright sun, moot
Though daylight still, hear the owls hoot.
