Abandoned Summer

Abandoned Summer

written by: Norj Joseph

It was supposed to be a summer to remember
Right after my hungry lips touched yours for the first time
When we suddenly froze by the narrow doorway
As the February wind wildly blew the chimes

It was supposed to be a summer full of love
When I said “I love you” for the first time
You replied with an innocent but forced smile
And your stares told me, “You and I are an uphill climb”

It wasn’t just supposed to be a plain and simple summer
When you said, “It’s going to be you and me if I return.”
But you abandoned me during that supposed memorable and full-of-love summer
I was like a dying ember, you plunged me into deep cold water and left my heart spurned
