Mother’s Day, A Father’s Woe

Mother’s Day, A Father’s Woe

written by: Norj Joseph

The day arrives, all Mothers celebrate
But not for him, it’s a day he can’t relate
He wakes before the sun, and offers a silent prayer
For strength and guidance to face the burdens he must bear

He feels the ache deep in his weary bones
The pain is always there but he hardly groans
His hands are rough, proof of his unquestionable sacrifice
His life is far from what he called heaven or paradise

On Mother’s Day, he sees the smiles, and colorful flowers
The greetings sung throughout long hours
For mother’s love, the tributes are pure and deep
While his own struggles are merely secrets, he keeps

It’s not a protest nor envy that he’d claim
But just a wish to whisper his own name
That in the praise for all a mother gives
There’s a father’s heart, and his hardship also lives
