Buddha & Mary Jane
written by: Scott C. Kaestner
a monk meditating
in a monastery
of his own making
a ballerina dancing
across the page
twisting words into light
their breath is verse
and verse breath
poems are sanctuaries
places they go
to thrive or die
or just float for awhile
clouds passing time
they pulsate with the sun
in an afternoon sky
neither here nor there
but everywhere
they belong to us all
all of us looking for them
or something remarkable
hidden in plain sight
the answer is obvious
there are no answers
and the beat goes on
they go on
we go on
destinations unknown.
