Canadian Fires Coming

Canadian Fires Coming

Oh, my God, the sky is yellow.

¬Not here, not yet.
It happens an hour later.
Storms of sulfur.

Outside, eyes tear, struggling throat,
stymied in the center of a campfire.

Close windows and doors,
still the air follows me.
Not close, but Canadian fire
still gusts south.

Plants, a pity, unprotected.
Unguarded gardens.
Animals retreat.

No-good air.
Jaundiced streams.

Silence.
A week of particulates sprinkling,
sifting then settles.
