Concentrate

A cup of sweet tea!
Cures all ills!
Don’t they say?
Or is it for shock?
Can it cure?
Our shock?
Or is it just?
Old wives’ tales?
Old wives!
Tales!
Please survive!
To be, my old wife!
To tell me, tales!
Ping! Kettle’s boiled!
Satiate!
Pour water in pot!
I’ve gone to pot!
I could smoke some pot!
Obliterate!
I love her!
Every part of her!
I love this! Her!
Here! Us!
Together!
She is beautiful!
Radiate!
Auburn hair!
Falling down her back!
Soon?
Falling about her shoulders?
Then?
Around her ears?
Falling out?
Till it’s gone?
I’m up to my ears!
If she dies?
I’ll be gone!
Asphyxiate!
Tomorrow?
Chemotherapy!
Infiltrate!
Why her?
God?
Negotiate!
Silent tears threaten!
My tears!
Her tears!
Tears for fears!
I bend down and kiss her!
I’m down!
She’s down!
Down but not yet out!
Fight this!
Fight it!
Do you hear me?
Fight this!
Motivate!
We’ve tonight!
To be whole!
I have a hole!
I’ve fallen down a hole!
In bed!
Staring at her breasts!
Two breasts?
One breast?
No breasts?
Mutilate!
It won’t matter!
Nothing matters!
Just live!
Whole?
Not whole?
Just live!
Tomorrow?
Will be here soon!
Too soon!
Too soon, to die!
Too young, to die!
She has to try!
Not to die!
Then?
Celebrate!
Tomorrow!
It begins!
Operation!
Chemo drips!
Hospital trips!
Keeping abreast!
Keeping her breast?
Breast is best?
Speculate!
It’s your fight!
But just for tonight!
I’m your husband!
You’re my wife!
Save her life!
We have each other!
I’m your lover!
Tomorrow can wait!
And later?
Lights out!
Switch off!
Try to sleep!
Hugging her tight!
Concentrate!
