Conversations With a Friend

When the white wings fly
High above our inferno
We’re glad for their shade.

Legs crossed here we pray
Like our brothers used to do
10,000 years dead.

Their spirits whisper
We listen like the rabbits
Only they can see.

Messages addressed
To life’s ghosts relentlessly
Stealing dreams, colors.

Till it rains again
Conversations with a friend
Sun breaks through our clouds.

Shadows capture light
Betrothed to a another
Time when doves learned flight.

Today soothe call the dawn
Awaken beginnings gone
Quiet love my dove.
