Drowning

Drowning

written by: Michelle Ayon Navajas

in depths where shadows dance, pain finds its sway,
echoes of trauma in relentless replay.
waves of anguish crash, relentless and wild,
dragging the soul where darkness is exiled.

a heart once buoyant now sinks ‘neath the tide,
weighted by sorrows it cannot abide.
memories swirl like a turbulent sea,
dragging the spirit where it can’t be free.

gasping for air in a suffocating embrace,
lost in the depths, in this watery space.
yet amidst the turmoil, a flicker of light,
a fragile hope in the endless night.

for even in darkness, courage finds its form,
rising above the waves, weathering the storm.
to breathe again, to reclaim the shore,
to heal the wounds that pain tore.

so let the waters recede, let healing begin,
awaken the spirit that lay deep within.
for though scars may linger, and memories remain,
strength blooms anew, through sunshine and rain.
