Empty Skies

Your piercing pale blue eyes reflected the ebbing light from the cold and empty December skies;

As we sat staring back at the years in haunted disbelief, you said time was ever a light fingered thief;

I intended to tell you just what was in my clouded and fitful mind, but the decades had silently and stealthily crept up on us from behind;

That empty sky and my living a long time lie, perhaps some deep secrets were destined to endure until all love finally must die.
