Finding Ourselves

Finding Ourselves

written by: Kelly Doheney

In the quiet of the night,
My thoughts become restless.
I seek to find the depths of my mind;
Of which my images are endless.

Through circling faces looking back,
I strive to know them all.
For we are all parts of a scattered puzzle,
We are all one brick in a brick wall.

Through winding paths, we strive to find,
A compromise to a common ground.
On a journey in life to acquire peace,
I listen to every sound.

Of the voices within telling their story,
I hear them with an open mind.
Like birds with wings ready to soar,
The truth of our past, we seek to find.

In the chaos within, we search for meaning;
Beyond the tales, we have formed.
A child lost in the wind,
Seeking hard to be informed.

With each part, the truth is revealed,
Mysteries that have plagued my life.
As I face my fears, the courage to pursue,
The truth cuts deep with a knife.

In the whispers, I finally find our voice,
Each one from a different perspective.
Each respected and unique,
We call ourselves the collective.

Through self-reflection, we strive to let go,
Of the beliefs that once held us captive.
In the fragments of my mind, I find power,
To let go of the negative.
