Flower

Flower

written by: Michelle McCarthy

Something pure and beautiful was lost
Spoilt, suffocated and withered by darkness
A blooming flower cruelly starved of light
Desperately, trying to grow and flourish
Thriving with strength at its beginning
Magnificent, breathtaking and wondrous
Harsh storms and lack of nourishment took its toll
Fading, its life force started to slip away
Surrendering to the sheer relentless attack
The once beautiful flower, lost strength to survive
Its purity and vibrancy no longer visible
Yet, underneath the soil, its seed remained
Hidden away from all that harmed it
Protected, safe, with space to grow
Yearning to feed and nurture that seed
Hopeful, that one day the flower may bloom again
