We never dreamt how the lovelorn deck would land

Inner demons smiled all the while
Ever knowing we wouldn’t wander that final mile

Long forgotten angels hidden in the chasing shadows
Together, two minds raking over love’s highs and lows

Our powerless Gods forgave future mistakes as we naively guessed
What unrequited crusade first set us out on this futile lovers quest
