Growing with Darkness

Growing with Darkness

written by: Abagail Summers

It started small
Innocent and pure
Day was light
And she was sure

But time was fading
And the cost was mighty
It burned like fear
And felt untidy

The years blended
No color in sight
She was only one
How could she fight

They came in numbers
Piling up two by two
She grew unworthy
Nothing seemed true

Back pedal, back pedal
But her feet were now stone
They hovered like clouds
She was facing the unknown

It was like war
No reason, just anger
Fighting to fight
No one could blame her

Her strength had diminished
And her legs were frail
She reached into the sky
But it didn’t help, she could tell

It washed over her with its fury
And it poured into her mind with sadness
She stayed so long
Too long, the chains, it was madness
