I am ME

I am ME
You wanted me to shatter
I could feel it
In every cold stare you sent my way
You expected me to shatter
I could sense it
In the shivers of your ice-cold rage
You assumed I would shatter
I could touch it
In the bitterness you shared so willingly
You believed I would shatter
When you left
To fall apart like the mirrors you broke
But you were wrong
Oh so very wrong
I was only shattered while you were here
When you left
I found the glue I needed
To pick up all the pieces
And rebuild – better and stronger than before
Jane hails from the distant shores of Darwin, in the Northern Territory of Australia. She has lived there all her life and has raised three young Adults. After 7 years as a Loans Officer and 6 years as a Rates Officer Jane found herself at university, studying to be a Primary School Teacher. Now in her nineteenth year of teaching, she has taken on the challenge of being the Student Wellbeing and Inclusion Teacher at her school (Special Education). Jane has been a part of a poetry writing group for over six years and a short story writing group for over five years. Her passion for writing began in high school, and she continues to write because it is a deep intrinsic part of who she is. She has been published in five Anthologies, and on a few writing platforms. One day she hopes to have her own collection of poems, and a novella published.
