Halloween Magic

Witches on broomsticks
Having a race across the sky
Ghostly apparitions
In cemeteries by and by
For goblins and ghouls
A night most foul
While demons on horseback
And werewolves do howl
But children parading
In costumes they choose
Aren’t afraid
Of ghosts without shoes

On Halloween day
There’s fun for all
But Halloween night
Brings omens of fear
From unearthly creatures
Who wait all the year
From midnight to midnight
They chance to appear
On rooftops or in gardens
In terror they reign
Singing their songs
Their other-worldly refrain

So go bob for apples
At parties that delight
To celebrate Halloween
In costumes that pretend
To imitate creatures
Or others most dead
Like fanciful animals
Or ladies in red
Enjoy while you can
This ghastly of days
But remember Halloween
Is not simply plays

A prelude to Christmas
When Santa descends
With presents and laughter
And reindeer who fly
Over mountains and oceans
And across the sky

Halloween begins
A season of good cheer
From scary to joyful
Each and every year
When witches on broomsticks
Race across the sky
Santa is preparing
For Christmas to fly
Enjoy all the pleasures
This season can bring
And gather up mem’ries
Like a round golden ring

Halloween
Is one single day
When witches and goblins
Come out to play
Their goal is to frighten
Whoever they please
In frantic processions
They chase and they tease

Remember to be careful
Of witch’s delight
And don’t worry about
The fright in the night
For Halloween pleasures
Is just being scared
Remember it’s Halloween
And just be prepared
For Halloween day
And Halloween night
Enjoy trick or treating
And have a good night
