Heart, a poem by Rex Fausett at Spillwords.com

Heart

Heart

written by: Rex Fausett

It seems to be enjoying its new companions
Two stents and a balloon
They say it was all on the right side of my heart
The left side is perfect.
It was the plumbing, not the heart itself.
I heard my heart during one of many procedures.
A squishy noise like a large wet sponge being squeezed.
Is that my heart? I asked the man.
Yes and I declare it good, said Aaron.
Aaron is from somewhere else.
Sterling stuff, said Fergus, my clinician.
How are your lungs today?
