Heartwork

Strong-willed women,
brave hearts,
life force rhythmic and steady
with all the love and caring
shared in a lifetime of heartbeats.
With each embrace and kindness,
through tears and laugh marks,
the many parts they play in life~~
mothers, children, lovers,
friends, partners, teachers, warriors.
Warriors not with guns or harsh invective,
but with hearts so warm they melt
all worldly discord with caring compassion.
I am a retired public sector lawyer who has always enjoyed writing -- journalism, memoir, essays, and poetry. I have been writing poetry in earnest for over ten years. My inspiration comes from nature, life's daily experiences, and thinking about the problems of the world. I've had several poems published in an annual summer fiction and poetry edition of a regional newspaper.
