Home Can Be People, Too

For my mentor

At High-Test Road, at that fifth hour,
your portrait ran off with the storm.
I dipped from the pot
of your thoughts.
Now, looking at your couch,
I am left with no foam to hold on to.
Like an elephant, you walled
your calves in,
creating a fortress of flesh.
The circle you drew is
now
encircled with the morning dew.
I & the dozens of my kind ask
for just an eyeblink of your love.
