I Wish

I Wish

sitting in my wheelchair,
Looking up at the night sky,
As the stars twinkle back at me,
Tears falling from my amber browns,
As I look down at feet,
and see the stripes and restraints,
that keep me confined,
wishing I could break free,
somehow someway,
even if it is just for a day,
where I could just get away,
and finally, know what it feels like to walk on the sidewalk,
or how it feels to walk up the stairs,
all the little things,
oh, how I wish.
