Just Another Quiet Sunday Morning In America

I hear
The churchbells
Ringing

It’s Sunday
Morning
Just like
Every Sunday
Here in
The city

But something
Is different
Something doesn’t
Feel right
The world is afraid
And on the streets
There are people
Walking away &
Distancing themselves
From other people

With

No more connections
No more words

Me?

Still awake
And still alive

I stand
Outside
Smoking
My cigarettes &
Watching mankind
Pass on by

In silence

But for
Once
There is
Too much
Silence
In this
World

Too much
Fear

Too much
Disease

And I hear the
Churchbells
Ringing

And soon
It shall be
In memory

Of all
The American
Dead

Who shall
Never hear
Them

Again
