Living with Demons

Living with Demons

written by: Bilquis Fatima

I watch my dreams
glow like ambers
before they turn to ashes
covering my skin,

My wounds still afresh,
though ages old
reek of pain
that could never be told,

My colours bleed
in pallid, ghastly streaks
fake is the vibrance
you see on me.

Scars drilling deep
take away my sleep,
I feel them scraping
my bones everyday.

As for my laughter,
they are mere overtones
of muffled screams
rising from every bone.
