Matter Of Perspective

A boy frowns in a mirror,
sickened by what he sees:
a crooked smile, an upturned nose,
freckles on his cheeks.
But a father has a photograph
he always loves to show.
“It’s of my son. Take a look,
he has the family nose.
He has my smile, no one dare say
that he’s not my boy!
He’s got his mother’s freckles, too.
He’s our pride and joy!”
