Meditation

Meditation

written by: Małgorzata Kulisiewicz

translated by: Anna Luberda-Kowal

A black and white bird
on the edge of time
has paused in its flight.

In this very moment
half a million shop-assistants
sold three million rolls,
two thousand excavators
dug out five tonnes of soil,
a million men on the northern hemisphere
kissed their girlfriends.

The black and white bird
on the edge of the worlds
has stopped,
the world has gone silent.
