Melancholy

Melancholy

written by: Sumana Bhattacharjee

Standing alone by the window pane
Watching the passersby
They all are gone by and by,
Still standing there my heart insane.

Nothing special has happened
Nothing shocking, nothing new
Yet in the corner of my eyes,
There is a drop of dew.

Trying to be happy
Being unaware, what exactly
Made me unhappy but
My mind-clouds are fluffy.

The air is unpleasant around me
The gust of wind is trying
To say something to me.
Know not how to turn this melancholy in glee.

Know not why I’m apprehensive
About the unbeknown future,
But feel it very well
In the hands of God
We are just a helpless creature.
