No Eye Contact

No Eye Contact

written by: TeaBee

For a dark reflection, the silhouette will act on its own
it’ll play on your instincts exposing the real you
to look away disarrayed in the black of a lost soul
when you sleep, its laughs will creak at the door to
its broken mirror full of lies showing a dead home
you can’t stare back or else it wins if you choose
it feeds off of your fears fogging up its glass house
hoping tears turn into meteorites cascading to break in
quietly clawing to get their hands on you and lash out
drawing your name; this evil old spirit full of hatred
waiting for you to turn stone face then break down
until you notice it staring directly at you patiently
waiting
but you never will
