Odd

Odd

written by: Farrukh Altaf

Why not write a poem,
for ‘odd’,
how odd would odd feel,
for treading its own path,
not following the stead,
by twos, hence,
being labelled ‘odd’,
sometimes a bigger leap,
or a tinier step,
just one at a time,
you see,
if steps by twos
is even, why,
could others be
not anything else
but not odd,
my skin tone
isn’t even,
I feel great,
not odd,
my hairs aren’t
even, just like,
my life, bumps,
and curls, all
along, I chuckle,
and giggle, pinning
on top of my head,
like life lessons,
you see,
nothing odd,
Odd isn’t odd,
it’s brave, courageous,
to do its own dancesteps,
not calculated twos,
for my moments,
of oddly silent,
oddly exuberant,
oddly benevolent,
oddly malevolent,
would plus/minus,
an emotional ounce,
make an even bounce,
do not do
that math operation,
rejoice your odd,
odd isn’t odd!
