One too many blows
written by: Matt Snyder (M)
It was relentless.
Day in and day out Martin heard about the one who got away. Martin & Emily were approaching their 1 year anniversery of what he had hoped was wedded bliss.
Emily often spoke about the humanitarian plans she had with the love of her life, James. Martin never feels like he measures up to James.
James appeared to be the pillar of the community beautifying what was once an overgrown weeded eyesore of Passion Park with an abundance of beautiful lilacs.
Whenever Martin and Emily fought she would stand before him and take herself to her happy place, where the city lilacs release their sweet, wild perfume then bow down, heavy with rain.
Martin had heard her murmur this often under her breath. It was a year ago tomorrow that “King” James promised Emily the world, instead she settled for less.
