Pele

The black jewel on the football field is no more
The king of football, at last, succumbed to cancer
He left behind record-breaking achievements and
His legacy in sports; the ace footballer was adept
In striking the ball with either foot and unique in
Anticipating opponent’s movements on the field
Versatile in dribbling skills to go past opponents
While predominantly a striker, he could drop deep
And take on a playmaking role, assisted with his
Vision and passing ability, with admirable pleasing
Manners; labeled as “the greatest” by FIFA, and
Regarded as one of the greatest players of all time;
Honored “Athlete of the Century” and the “World
Player of the Century”; born and grown in poverty,
He blossomed to the most beautiful flower with
Extreme fragrance, now gone to inspire the world.
