When the hour drifts
And the spirit lifts
As a child releasing a balloon
For the sole delight
To view its flight
In hopes of reaching the moon
So I click on the keyboard
And poems like this
Are my reward

Cute, quaint
Somewhat more sinner than saint
One day in my fantasy absurd
Where tomorrow’s children
Free of satirical sin
Hang on my every word
Will in their study discover
Poems like this
And covet them like a perfect lover
Offering body and soul
To create the greater whole

My fate is in the Lord’s hand
That I truly understand
Nervous, anxious unable to sleep
In the fright of the frigid night
Sometimes I Am compelled to weep
But I must keep the faith
And wait
For the coming on the dawn’s raise
Where in the light
When all is right
I can truly give honest praise

But for now
I meander somehow
In search for treats of bliss
In poems like this
