Protest

Protest

written by: Diya Baral

We are females,
We are not like trees,
That, after cutting down
By the cruel human beings,
We couldn’t protest!
But yes, mankind could protest,
Against the brutal deforestation!

We are females,
And we could protest
Against the cruelty of men.
Just as we see in Mahakavyas,
Like Ramayana and Mahabharata,
Ravana dishonours woman,
For his cruel desires and pride,
And then death comes to his life.
Duryodhana disregards woman,
By humiliating her to sit on his thighs,
And Karna laughs louder,
By humiliating her as a whore,
And Dushasana disrobes her.
Yes, I am talking about
Maa Sita and Draupadi.
They are humiliated.
Cruel and brutal consequences follow.
They die on the battlefield,
If it is on the battlefield of
Lanka or Kurukshetra,
Dharma is the ultimate winner.

So, we are females,
We could protest against the heinous crimes.
We have that strength and power,
Like Maa Durga,
And we can kill the demon
Like Mahishasura.
