Quietude

Quietude

written by: Phil Huffy

At gatherings I must attend,
for reasons known to vary,
I listen in and sometimes grin
without much commentary.

I seldom say a single thing,
at risk of misconstrual,
but stand, instead, and nod my head
and play the perfect fool.

There are those times I can’t resist,
and though I chance derision,
I must let rip a potent quip,
delivered with precision.
