Walking along the well-worn track towards the lofty summit
My senses tell me this is long overdue, as my anxiety plummets
I feel the warm air caress my skin creating a sensation of content
Birds singing high in the treetops above, awakening my soul as it wanted
Philosophers from centuries before, remind us nature is a soothing balm
Whether along a sandy coast, a leafy trail, it is within nature we find calm
My mind ponders the years that passed, some quick, whilst others lingered
Yet now I look back and see them all, I understand each year needed to be heard
A forgotten plant springs from what appeared barren ground, a tree grows tall and majestic
A bird fledges within such a short time, although to its parents, it was slow yet hectic
Why do we rush forward seeking gratification from the moments yet to come?
When an alternative is to live in the here and now and appreciate all as one
Ah sweet nature, you are such a sage, a wise elder patiently waiting for us to learn
Within your microscopic universe lies all the answers, yet we continue to yearn
