Seed in the Glass

Seed in the Glass

written by: Lyric

Across the street I quickly walk
My phone rings, wanting me to talk
See my reflection in the glass
A figure of poor middle class.

I see the windows up ahead,
Once lively, they are cold and dead
A remnant now of better times,
Now deeply dusted and begrimed.

The street reflected and I see
In my mind, that which used to be,
Vibrant life, now fades to black
Perhaps too late to bring it back.

The signs are splashed across the street
Take now this opportunity!
Squeeze money out that isn’t there
Watch dreams now fade into the air.

I see the future in the glass
The things now stolen from the past,
But hope arises, as a seed
In the cruel face of darkest greed.

I smile at strangers passing by
They see me, maybe wonder why
But I must go about my day
And hate it has to be this way..
