Surface Tension

Surface Tension

written by: Lyric

Tricks of light that dance and play
Look at those waters! The others say
They see a lake, so deep and cool
In truth, it is a shallow pool

But look at the sparkle! Look at the light!
A glimmering mirror of stars the night!
They claim, assured of their chosen story
The pool has only reflected glory

Profound and mysterious, worthy of praise!
They say, watching ripples that play in the haze
They cannot fathom a lake truly deep
Where mystery lurks, and where secrets do sleep

Instead captivated, their image they see
In the shallow reflection, that’s all that they need
No depth now discovered, no meaning now found
They’re content with a small, shallow hole in the ground
