Separate Strands

Separate Strands

Nestling parallel on a silver plated tray,
strands abound and astound all who see.
Thread, string, yarn and rope side by side
strands are for examination and wonder.

Stories of pasts perfect and imperfect,
strands of hopes pending or possible
hold histories much as the counting strings
of ancient people recorded events.

The threads and fine strings promise tatting.
— the mundane knotted into elegant lace.
Blond baby locks next to dark adult waves
are a biography of a child’s evolution.
