Sky Island

written by: Becca Lotus

Jagged silver woven up through
Snow-dusted gray
Fierce sun bursts red and orange over
Mountain peaks of Suicide Rock
Ancient pines below whispering
Secrets through the forest
Strawberry Creek cheerfully babbles
As it meanders through
Pacific Coast Trail hikers progress
Bold rattlesnakes warn
Hidden deer watch cautiously
Mountain folk wave from
Rocking chairs on log cabin porches
Sky Island days in the mile high village
