Sonder Skin

Sonder Skin

written by: Qeirnin

I would trace the silhouette
of your skin – forever-
if you had allowed me.

I feel sonder-
lost in the vanishing black sea
the stars sleep – in.

Everything and everyone
Without my name
And crooked face-
Exist in colorful ways.
Yet to them,
I’m just grey.

My existence is only
The smeared mistake
In someone else’s painting.
The recognizable scar on skin
that begs to be hidden-
From anything and everything
that lives endlessly
in an unforgiving reality.

Why does my skin feel sonder-
and yet, my existence doesn’t?
