The Hospital Bed

The Hospital Bed

written by: Chahra Beloufa

When you are on hospital bed
Wearing a gown
Prepared for the unknown
As they take you through the halls
Crowded; people passing;
Emergency alarms ringing
You see only lights
Head up; like a statue freezing
You look at the lights
A thousand spot illuminated bright
Your thoughts are no more important
They deserve to be silenced
You do not speak or ask
You patiently wait
Silently asking
What if the moment will faint?
You are only waiting
Excitedly for that injection of pain
To heal…
The bed transports the body
It becomes heavier for the nurses
As it carries tons of sentiments
A hopeful courage and a calm worry
A big smile wherever I am transported
I cheer pain with a deep story
A story of resilience
A faithful destination to patience
