- Where do you originate from?
Liverpool, England. My childhood wasn’t always the happiest place, the bullies in particular sniffed me out at an early age. Standing on the Kop kept me sane and later, words pulled me through.
- What do you cherish most about the place you call home?
Wherever I am, I carry Liverpool with me. It’s like a country in itself, friendly creative unique. I currently live at the coast in Turkey and see many similarities. I love the nature and the people here. I recently wrote a book called “An Englishman in Turkey,” which will be published here soon.
- What ignites your creativity?
I doubt any one can really answer that, but I guess for me I have no idea. A word or a theme will grow inside until it takes shape, then I will write. Some are immediate, normally to events in the world, these are the most popular and you can see them and more on MellorDR YouTube.
- Do you have a favorite word and could you incorporate it into a poetic phrase?
Liverpool – a breed apart a soul as big as the Mersey, the music, the laughter and the poetry fill the air, a place I call home wherever I am.
- What is your pet peeve?
Animal cruelty. Cruelty in general. Injustice.
- How would you describe the essence of David R Mellor?
Oh wow, that’s a biggy. I speak my own truth through my words, I find it difficult to understand those people who don’t.
