The Cat’s Decree

The Cat’s Decree

written by: Stasia Poletskaia

I take my arms,
and lucky charms
will not protect you, dear.
I’ll kill and hurt,
but – have you heard? –
my bloody arms are clear!
I am a saint,
I’ll take the paint
and I will draw horns
above your head.
Oh, are you mad?
You’re getting worse and worse!
Be more kind,
be more polite
and, please, don’t shout at me.
You are so bad!
You should be glad.
You should be good and neat.
Shut up your mouth
and like a mouse
hide quickly in a hole.
I am your cat,
you will be dead
if you forget your role!
