The Fire
written by: Alan David Gould
That when you open your mouth to speak, ash smolders from the
perpetual upheaval of
volcanoes deep in your heart
I cannot put a fire like that
out
I tried, I cut your
earth with the shovel of borders, I spread the
dirt of anger, I poured the
water of reason and logic, I dropped the
tears of commiseration, they
do not work
It is the fire of your life we are talking about and the
only thing that will quench it is
death
