The Lady Monet

The Lady Monet

She is the living darkness
that shines in the night,
her eyes haunting neon dreams
of a thousand lonely souls.

The physics of her motion
is a science of joy,
each step, each breath,
the ecstasy of curve and grace.

There is a power
that makes live magic of dead air,
driving foolish drunks
to wrestle with language
in vain attempts to capture
the riot of spirit in the perfection of flesh.

Across the room dances the incarnation
of the ancient source of imagination.
