The Moment I Almost Told Her

The Moment I Almost Told Her

written by: Abhishek Punyani

We walked beneath a sky half-woven,
Where even stars forgot what’s spoken.
The moon hung low like it could hear
The quiet truth I held too near.
She laughed, then glanced, then touched her sleeve;
And I forgot how hearts should breathe.
The world stood still in silver hush,
And all I felt was rising rush.
I turned to her, the words half-shaped,
A vow the stars themselves had draped.
But then she smiled, not just at me,
But at some thought I couldn’t see.
And just like that, I pulled them in,
The words that danced beneath my skin.
Not out of doubt, or fleeting whim,
But fear that love might make her dim.

My Thoughts?
“What if she saw too much too fast?
What if this moment couldn’t last?
What if the light I placed in her
Was not the one she’d want to stir?”
So I just nodded, let her speak,
And memorized her blushing cheek.
Sometimes silence is the cost
Of saying what we fear we’ve lost.
And though I didn’t speak that night,
My soul still whispered in the light:
“I love you… but not just yet,
Your heart’s a song I can’t forget.”
