The Sailor

written by: Steve Nickodemski

Uniform no longer fits, pin medals upon my chest.

What do they mean now?
Nothing more than cloth and tin.

I was too long in.
Cost me more than time, it took my sanity.

Think before you join.

NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR:

Something I wrote after being diagnosed with General Anxiety Disorder as a result of my time in the military. Also, it’s a cautionary poem for those who join on a whim. Think hard about what you’re doing.
