Empty Pram

written by: Steve Nickodemski

Hope all but lost as she pushes her empty pram.
Useless womb barren, fruitless as the flowering pear.
Weeping silently, screaming inward, knowing it’s all a sham.

Only God knows why she has been cursed and damned.
These past years have been more than she could bear.
Hope all but lost as she pushes her empty pram.

Forsaken by the ignorant who fail to understand.
Her meaningless life, with cards, dealt always less than fair.
Weeping silently, screaming inward, knowing it’s all a sham.

No blame to lay, save for the croupier dealing the hand.
The tyke lay motionless, contorted, at the bottom of the stair.
Hope all but lost as she pushes her empty pram.

Cursing the deity for that which was never part of his plan.
Rusty wheels squeaking loudly in the mid September air.
Hope all but lost as she pushes her empty pram.

Walking aimlessly continuing with her forlorn scam.
Unchristened spirit resides in Limbo, life so unfair.
Hope all but lost as she pushes her empty pram.
Weeping silently, screaming inward knowing it’s all a sham.
