The Shipping Forecast

The Shipping Forecast

written by: Anthony John Ward

I drift off to the Shipping Forecast,
Coming to me across the long waves
Like a weather front rising slowly,
Veering, Viking, 2 to 4,
North, clearing Northwest,
Hearing showers, occasionally thundery.
While I’m safe and sound
Embedded in warmth,
My blue sheets undulating with sinking respiration,
Listening to this lullaby
Sailing by,
Having been all at sea.
My consciousness ebbing,
Tiding tiredness into a deep sound sleep.
