leaves, heaven aspiring, trembling almost
bark-ribbed body of veins below
bones of truth
burnt remnants of a season
summer seeping through it
passing, ready to fall
sun’s slow decline
almost still and warm to touch
as if tomorrow really is another day
orange-blood crunch
while jets like sharks
these beautiful beasts
coast through vapour-blue skies
casting shadows below, where
we are momentarily lit green
with amber tones running through us
and our impossible dreams
