The Third Rail

The Third Rail

written by: Jan Niebrzydowski

A compilation of visions trespass across my mind
I push them onto the third rail with deft hand
Hoping to annihilate the intruders as quickly
As they appear
The relentless, the bold interlopers
That jiggle my thoughts to quiver and revolt
Memories that raid the peaceful and begin the war
The everlasting war to quiet the whining violin
That scrapes along my eardrum
Producing rigid tears that do not wish to depart
So long now since you’ve floated into the netherworld
Still…I am still…and still…I remain
Knowing I have no answers but to paint your memory
Again and again upon the wall so I can see you…still
